WCS 2024
The Twelfth World Construction Symposium (WCS 2024)
The 12th World Construction Symposium 2024 (WCS 2024) on “Empowering Construction Industry: Towards Sustainable Development Goals” was successfully held in a hybrid format from 9-10 August 2024. This year’s symposium marked the 12th milestone of this prestigious series, which has been held annually since 2012. Over the years, the WCS has grown in recognition and prominence, attracting participants from both academia and industry worldwide.
Amidst Sri Lanka’s continuing economic recovery, the symposium provided a vital platform for discussions on sustainable practices and innovations in the construction industry. For the first time since the pandemic, we are thrilled to return to in-person participation while maintaining a virtual component to enable wider international engagement.
The event was jointly organized by the Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) and the Building Economics and Management Research Unit (BEMRU), Department of Building Economics, University of Moratuwa. Key international partners included Western Sydney University, Australia; The University of Newcastle, Australia; Deakin University, Australia; Massey University, New Zealand; The University of Adelaide, Australia; Colombo School of Construction Technology (CSCT), Sri Lanka; and the Built Environment Project and Asset Management (BEPAM) Journal, published by Emerald Group Publishing. Full papers presented at WCS 2024 are indexed in Scopus.
